first signs something was wrong

In June 2017, our 11 year old daughter started limping. She told us, her brother hit her on the calf and she has been experiencing pain there. I assumed, since it was not a strong hit, her brother was younger, and they never hit each other in a strong way, it is temporary and the pain will gradually subside. It didn't. Her limping and pain progressed. Since we have been living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I booked a visit to the orthopedic doctor in Dallah Hospital. It was last days of Ramadan, month of fasting, we were last on the patients list. When we were finally in, the doctor barely examined her and upon hearing the history of hit, pain, assumed it was inflammation in the muscle, and it would subside with time. We got cream for massage prescribed, got assurance, we are able to travel by plane for holidays and so we did...

Unfortunately, L pain got worse. She started walking on her toes and the outer edge of her left foot to ease the pain. The pain was increasing after walking, activity. A friend of mine, orthopedic, examined her and it turned out  L's left leg was shorter then the right one, also her left feet seemed somehow 1 size smaller. Everything was happening so fast. I have not noticed anything earlier, she had no problems walking, jumping, riding a bike, she was skating. We never noticed foot length discrepancy - while buying shoes.

We were advised to make a custom made insole for her left shoe, which we did in a specialized orthopedic shop and tried to enjoy our holidays as much as possible...
